Who we are

At Branches Coffee Co., every cup makes an impact. We are company dedicated to providing employment and job skills training for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. With 80% of individuals with IDD unemployed our goal is to create meaningful sources of both community and employment.

As part of our initiative, we have a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers free job training and classes to individuals with disabilities to promote skills and social engagement.

But Branches is more than a place to grab your favorite drink, it’s a space where friendships form and community grows. Through clubs, meet-ups, and local partnerships, we’re creating meaningful ways for people to connect, learn, and grow together, one cup, one conversation, and one act of kindness at a time.

Nicole Shifflett is a co-owner of Branches Coffee Co. who loves great coffee and meaningful connection. She’s a Behavior Analyst and has spent over six years working alongside individuals with disabilities a passion that started years earlier through volunteering and has stayed close to her heart ever since.

Nicole dreams of creating a coffee shop that feels welcoming to everyone, while providing meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. She believes coffee has a special way of bringing people together and creating community one conversation at a time.

Kevin Murphy is a co-owner of Branches Coffee Co. with a deep appreciation for coffee as a universal connector. Having visited over 15 countries, he’s seen firsthand how meaningful conversations and genuine connections often begin over a simple cup of coffee.

While studying abroad in Costa Rica, he spent a summer living on a coffee farm with a host family. This was an experience that shaped both his respect for the craft and his belief in coffee’s ability to bring people together across cultures. Though he currently works in tech, his passion lies in creating a warm, welcoming community space where people feel comfortable gathering, connecting, and slowing down.

For him, coffee isn’t just a drink, it’s an invitation to community.
